FOLLOWING the spectacular success of our Community Gold Awards in 2009, we are now on the hunt for our 2010 unsung heroes.
Run in conjunction with solicitors Debenhams Ottaway, this competition aims to shine the spotlight on a person who has displayed a selfless act or a group which always goes above or beyond the call of duty.
Log on to our website and visit our Community Gold Awards section to read about our 12 2009 winners.
They ranged from charity workers to scout leaders to two men who pulled a pensioner from a burning house.
This year we also want to hear about local green champions. Do you know a person or a group looking to make a difference to our local environment ? It could be via a school project or by campaigning to local politicans.
Whatever the reason, we want to hear from you.
The aim of the scheme is to give recognition to individuals in the St Albans district who make a positive contribution to society and make a real difference to community life.
Maybe it is a carer, a nurse, a teacher, a council worker, a Scout, a Guide, a caring child or a volunteer. If they have touched your heart, chances are they will touch ours too.
The awards will run throughout 2010.
