THE woman who led the successful fight against the railfreight project has been nominated for a Review/ Debenhams Ottaway Community Gold Award.
Cathy Bolshaw, founder of the pressure group Strife, has been nominated for the award, which aims to recognise outstanding contributions to the local community, by district and county councillor Aislinn Lee.
Councillor Lee said: "Many people in and around Park Street were crucial in the campaign which we hope has finally seen off Helioslough and the proposed railfreight interchange.
"However, Cathy played a key role in ensuring the campaign not only reached the high profile it did, but also ensuring that the case Strife put before each enquiry on behalf of the community was of the highest level.
"Through Cathy we all can identify how our community came together to fight off this totally inappropriate development.
"I sincerely hope that in this way she will see how important a part she has played for us and the debt we owe her."
The 46-year-old nominee, who has recently moved from Park Street to Radlett with her partner John, said: "I felt this was a large piece of Green Belt land which had to be protected.
"It would have brought a great deal of traffic onto the local road network, and even if not in the strict legal sense, would effectively have merged Park Street with London Colney."
