HARPENDEN MP Peter Lilley's taxpayer-funded home in London is worth more than £400,000, details of his expenses published today reveal.
When the Review asked Mr Lilley about his expenses for 2004/5 to 2007/8, published by parliamentary authorities in June, he refused to discuss how much his “second home” had increased in value since he became an MP in 1983.
But his claim for 2008/9, published today, includes an insurance policy which values the property at £414,810.
The parliamentary authorities orginally refused to pay for the policy as it also covered personal items, but agreed his claim of £1,132 after he pointed out it was only two-thirds of the premium.
Mr Lilley's 2008/9 claim also includes £2,375 subsistence, calculated as £25 for 97 nights spent away from home, £12, 701 in mortgage interest, and £60 for bathroom repairs.
