By Zoe Forsey Birds will have a new place to rest following the installation of two swift boxes at St Albans Cathedral this morning.
Staff at the cathedral hope that the new boxes will attract swifts, which are on the Amber List for Conservation Concern, to the area.
The boxes have been placed on the north side of the historical building.
Canon Dennis Stamps said: “St Albans Cathedral is delighted to be able to host two triple nesting boxes on our high walls. “Swifts have nested at the Cathedral before and we pray that they will return and breed here in these wonderful new boxes.”
