Hatfield Garden Village residents gathered, this morning, to march in protest against Borough Council plans to build 2,000 new homes on nearby farmland.
If the homes are built, it will bring in roughly 7,000 more people to Hatfield. But the protesters believe that this is another example of Hatfield being treated as 'a soft touch' - as one banner stated - by the Borough Council who always seem to earmark Hatfield for the lions share of unwanted developments, whilst WGC is preserved.
In total, there is a requirement to build 7,200 new homes within the WelHat Borough, but residents are concerned that Hatfield will receive the brunt of the overcrowding whilst receiving no benefit in return.
Whilst 2,000 homes are mooted for the Hatfield Garden Village area, just 700 are being proposed for WGC over at Panshanger, where residents are already mobilising in protest too.
