St.Albans City FC could be leaving Clarence Park and moving to Smallford. The club's website vaguely informs a proposed new site is "...adjacent to the Alban Way and south of Alban Park..." This could mean the former Ballito sports field off Hatfield Road which is sited between the Glyndwell Nurseries and Nissan car dealership.
However, the club have outlined proposals to move to a new 5,000 capacity stadium and presented plans to councillors of St Albans City & District Council and business leaders at St Michael’s Manor yesterday.
The development would create a 5,000 capacity ground with banqueting and conferencing facilities and a full size 3G training pitch, incorporating green technologies.
The proposed venue is to the north of Colney Heath Lane adjacent to the Alban Way and south of Alban Park. The feedback was generally positive and a fans forum will be arranged to provide more information on the plans.
