Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery in Welwyn Garden City on Friday (5th April) evening.
Three offenders, one of whom was carrying what is described as a short walking stick, have approached three teenage girls on Bridge Road East at around 10.45pm and then demanded the girls’ mobile phones.
The offenders have punched one of the girls causing slight injury and she and a second girl have handed over their phones. The third victim has refused to hand over her phone and has been pulled to the floor by the offenders and struck twice with the walking stick.
The offenders have then made off with two mobile phones. They are described as:

• A white male, aged 16 to 19, 5ft 9in-10in tall and of stocky build. He had short blond hair and was wearing white and blue striped shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms;
• A white female, aged around 18, around 5ft 7in and slim. She had long dark brown hair and was wearing a red bandana with a white swirly pattern that covered her face and carrying a walking stick; and,
• A white female aged 16-17, around 5ft 4in and of medium build. She also had long dark brown hair and was wearing dark clothing.
DC Glen Turrell-Oldacre, from the Local Crime Unit in Hatfield, said: “These offenders were of a distinctive appearance as one of the females was carrying a walking stick at the time. I would like to speak to anyone who believes they saw these people in the area at the time or who believes they may know who they are.
“Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference B1/13/821. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
