Construction work has started on a new temporary car park at the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. This will make way for building work on the New QEII later this summer.

The temporary car park will have the same number of parking spaces as before and the pay and display charges will cost the same.

The new temporary car park is due to open in June 2013, at which point the main public car park will be fenced off, allowing work on the New QEII Hospital building to start. Patients will receive an update on the parking changes with their clinic appointment letters.
Scheduled to open in Spring of 2015, the New QEII Hospital is a £30m investment, planned by GPs from East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. It will be a brand new building providing a modern environment for the services that local people use most often.
Jacqui Bunce from the CCG said: “Patients will have noticed that diggers and construction machinery are now on site at the QEII. We’re pleased that work is underway and are working closely with the contractors to ensure that any disruption to the staff, patients and local residents is kept to a minimum. The plan is for the temporary car park to be up and running in the first week of June.”
The New QEII Hospital will have a significant range of services including a Local A&E, outpatients, diagnostics and therapies. For the latest information on the developments, go to www.enhertsccg.nhs.uk/newqeii
