AN "amazing" headteacher from London Colney has been nominated for an award by her pupils.
Lisa Valla, headteacher at London Colney Primary School, has described her shock after discovering staff and pupils had put her forward for an Inspiring People award.
The awards scheme was launched by the Review newspaper in partnership with local solicitors Debenhams Ottaway to recognise unsung heroes across the district.
Mrs Valla said: "The nomination actually came as a complete shock. I had no idea I had been nomiated. Although, as I asked people around school, including my chair of governors, they all seemed to know.
"I'm overwhelmed, as well as a little tearful, at the thought of my school putting me up for this award. This is the best job I have ever had in my whole life. The children and adults involved in the school are wonderful and I wouldn't give any less than my best to them, as that's what they deserve."
Comments received by pupils include: "She is an outstanding headteacher, she is alos very nice and kind."
"She cares about the children more than she cares about herself."
"She is the most amazing headteacher."
Mrs Valla added: "We've worked hard to turn the school around in the past few years. We've done it as a community and had a great laugh on the way. There's nothing better than going to work every day with such a committed team, that work so well together."
Earlier this year an Ofsted inspector described Mrs Valla as "the driving force behind the significant changes and innovations" at the school.
