"WE HAVE an alien-possessed mammoth on the loose and if we don't stop it the government's going to kill all of us."

Yep, that's the film's plot and tone both summed up in one handy quote.

When a meteor hits a small town museum, it brings to life a frozen mammoth and sends the undead behemoth on a killing spree, sucking out brains through its trunk. No, seriously.

The local palaeontologist (every town should have one) joins forces with a couple of Men-in-Black-style special agents to stop the woolly beast and save his family before good old Uncle Sam nukes the entire place. Just to be on the safe side.

Tongue-in-cheek, deliriously over-the-top fun.
