Cuban music in St Albans pubs

A GROUP of St Albans musicians who model themselves on the best-selling Cubans the Buenavista Social Club will be playing in five city centre pubs for charity .

The Swanvesta Social Club, based in the Camp area of St Albans, will play a mixture of English, American and Cuban music with the emphasis on “danciness and comedy” on the evening of Friday, March 13.

Singer Chris Paton, a teacher at St Albans Girls' School, said. “St Albans is a very special place and this is going to be a typically special event. Everyone is putting in a lot of effort at no cost and all of the pub managements have been fantastic. It's great that we can all work together for a good cause – and have a laugh at the same time.”

They hope to beat last year's total donations of £650 for Comic Relief.
