City of St Albans Swimming Club have progressed through to the Division One final of the Herts Major League after finishing runners-up to Watford in the second round.

There were notable performances across all of the age-groups with Alex Ong in particular impressing on his return from injury by winning the Under-14 boy’s 100m breaststroke.

Further wins came with Monica Ong in the Under-12s 50m breaststroke, Lauren Stott in the Under-12s 50m butterfly and Lauren Winfield in the Under-16s 100m freestyle. For the boys, individual wins were achieved by Ben Muckleston in the Under-12s 50m freestyle, Oly Perry in the Under-14s 100m butterfly, Liam Curran in the Under-16s 100m butterfly; Robbie Lightowler in the Under-16s 100m backstroke and Peter Hensman in the Under-16s 100m breaststroke.

The open 100m breast stroke was won by James Loveman. St Albans also notched up points with a number of relay wins including the Under-14 boy’s medley 4x2 length relay by Elliott Wylie, Alex Ong, Oly Perry and Ross Ferreira; the Under-14 boy’s 4x2 length freestyle relay swum by Ross Ferreira, Alex Ong, Elliott Wylie and Oly Perry.

Other winners at the Herts event included the Under-16 boys 4x2 length medley by Robbie Lightowler, Peter Hensman, Liam Curran and Zac Horne; the Under-16 boy’s 4x2 length freestyle relay swum by Liam Curran, Peter Hensman, Robbie Lightowler and Zac Horne; and the girl’s Under-12 medley relay by Grace Wylie, Monica Ong, Lauren Stott and Ella Chown.
