St Albans City Ladies continued their climb up the table with a hard-fought 3-2 away win at Bedford Ladies.
Christina Freestone opened the scoring for City with a mazy run through the Bedford defence completed with a cool strike early on.
It stayed 1-0 until the second half when Bedford replied and St Albans’ goalscorer then had to take a turn between the sticks after the first-choice goalkeeper went off injured.
Lucy Hancock was quickest to react to her own shot which hit the crossbar and regain the lead for City before Holly Sheridan made it 3-1 with a well-taken shot.
Halfway through the second half, Bedford reduced the deficit but it was too little too late for them as St Albans held on to take the three points.
