Harvesters reach second cup final in a week

After last weekend’s success in making the County Cup Final, Harvesters Under-10 Girls reached their second cup final by beating Denham United 5-0 in the semi-final of the Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League (HGFPL).

Goalkeeper Vicky Lye saved the only shot on goal by Denham and that was from the spot. Two goals were scored by player of the match Daisy Charnock, along with a brace from Millie Constantine and one by Rosie Langston. The side go on to meet Garston Ladies in the final at Harvesters on May 11.

Harvesters Under-10 West started their Spring trophy campaign with a 9-0 win against Bushey & Oxhey Tigers.

Goals by Oliver Rushbrooke, Dan Carini, Pat Dee, two by man-of-the-match Leo Gordon-Brown, a hat-trick by Ahmed Berchill and a wonder goal by Luca Hammond sealed the victory.

The Under-10s East played some exceptional football against Whetstone Jaguars. The whole team impressed with George Thomas, Tom Mileham and James Draper scoring the goals.

Harvesters Under-11 Girls eased into the final of the HGFPL Shield with a 4-0 win over St Albans Rangers.

Amalie Newman-Booth opened the scoring after 20 minutes with Eve Shaw adding two more before the break. Some fine goalkeeping kept the score at 3-0 until five minutes from the end when Celyn Walmsley scored her first for the team to complete the win.

The Under-11s South lost 8-1 to Croxley Guild Clarets. The consolation goal was scored by Nathan Thornton and Zak Bensissi was the pick of the team.

Harvesters Under-12s North remained on course to retain the trophy for a third consecutive season as they moved into the final of the Watford Friendly League Challenge Cup.

The side defeated AEK Eagles Black 2-1 in a closely fought semi-final thanks to goals from Louie Roberts and William Brothwood and a superb all-round team performance.

In a home fixture that was rearranged and played away, the East Under-12 lost an extremely competitive match 3-2. Ben Robinson was on target for Harvesters and a good corner from Joe Oliver led to an own goal.

The Under-13 Girls lost 6-1 to in-form Enfield in their League Cup semi-final. After conceding an early goal they were always chasing the game and quickly found themselves 3-0 down. Star player Maya Yapp pulled one back early in the second half to make it 3-1. The girls pushed hard to get back in it however they left themselves open to the counter and were clinically picked off late on in the second period.

Harvesters North Under-16 lost 5-1 away at Whetstone Wanderers Lions in the League.

North fell behind early on, before Jacob Trigg equalised within a minute of coming off the bench. In an evenly contested match North conceded four goals in the later part of the game to give a one-sided score-line. Harrison Bath was man-of-the-match for his passing and all-around performance.

The Under-18 Girls came up against an excellent and unbeaten Leverstock Green side in the semi-final of the League Cup and put up a brilliant display before finally losing 5-3.

It was a really gutsy performance from the team who went 2-0 up only to be pegged back. They went ahead again only to concede three goals in the final ten minutes.

Every player gave their all with Kris del Gaudio making some fine saves in goal despite her injury and three superb goals from Ellie Bergin, Ellen Beary and Nicola Dark.
