St Albans' Dave Kiff and Steve Wilson gained victory over fellow club members Ken Harding and Ken Budd in the St Albans and District Men’s Pairs to advance to the semi-finals.

The ladies played Hatfield at home with Sylvia Cooper, Carol Jeavons, Brenda Pitkin and Jacy Farrer beating Mary Bank’s team 15-12. Pauline Gardiner, Maggie Kendrick, Marjorie Knight and Eileen Cox beat Jackie Bell’s team 24-7.

St Albans played Harperbury in the county league with two rinks of men and one rink of the ladies.

Alan Turner, Robin Farrer, John Bartlett and Steve Wilson beat J Allen’s team 22-19 but Andy Kay, Neville Simons, Ted Salvidge and Ken Budd lost to Malcolm West’s team 23-22. The ladies team of Pauline Gardiner, Eileen Englebright, Eileen Cox and Joyce Wilson drew with Sheila Robert’s team 21-21.

St Albans' midweek men played a five-rink match against Hatfield as they were beaten 99-77. Their top rink was Alan Brittain, Freddie Bullock, Bob Pomeroy and Jim McGregor (19-11).

In the district triples league the ladies played Hemel Hempstead. The home team of Gardiner, Diana Tribe and Wilson won 25-6 against Val Nash’s team. The away team of Eileen Englebright, Eileen Cox and Jacy Farrer lost 23-10. St Albans gained four league points to Hemel’s two.

In the district triples league the men played Harpenden. The home team of Andy Kay, John Bartlett and Ted Salvidge beat Richard Muir’s team 25-7. The away team of Alan Turner, Neville Simons and Rod Perks lost 19-18 to George Tutt’s team.

On Saturday, St Albans played Hatfield with six mixed rinks. It was a close game with a 115-110 win for St Albans. The top rink was Alison Thomas, Phyllis Nicholls, Tony Morris and John Bartlett (35-7).

St Albans played Potten End with four mixed rinks and were beaten 80-66. The top rink was Alison Thomas, David McManus, Tom Banfield and Jim McGregor (23-8).
