In the ladies district triples league, Harpenden played Hatfield, one team at home and one away.
The home team of Debbie Turner, Janet Hubball and Linda Newby won by two shots, while the away side – Helen Westcott, Beryl Driscoll and Beryl Birch – lost by six shots.
Harpenden’s men are through to the final of the Bob Vise Trophy after winning their semi-final away against Hemel Hempstead.
Rob Newby got the team off to a flying start by winning the singles 21-6.
The pairs – Colin Driscoll and John Osborn – started well, scoring a five early on and led 16-11 after 15 ends but lost their way, dropping 12 shots on the next five ends and went down 23-18.
The triples of John Williams, Rob Howell and Dick Muir held their own up to the half-way stage when they were only two shots adrift but in the second half the opponents raised their game and won 24-13.
At this point Harpenden were losing by one shot on the aggregate score so the result was all depended on the fours, which had to win by two shots. The match was very close and going into the last end they led by two shots and scored two on the last end to win by four shots and the match by three shots.
Harpenden play Welwyn Garden City in the final at Townsend on August 26.
