12:09pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in Sport
London Colney clinched a 4-1 home win over St Margaretsbury in the South Midlands Premier Division.
It took only 35 seconds to open the scoring when Greg Shaw raced into the box to drive the ball into the left corner of the net.
Matt Newman then had two efforts on goal saved by Alex Smits before the Blueboys finally scored a second goal.
Dan Power took a throw which found Martin Collins who crossed the ball to the far side of the box where Russell Gallagher nodded the ball down for Newman to score from ten yards out.
Early in the second half St Margaretsbury won a penalty but the referee admitted after the match that the foul took place well outside the box.
Ryan Wade stepped up to convert the resulting spot kick to make it 2-1.
Russell Gallagher's shot came back off the foot of the post but Collins was waiting to pounce on the loose ball and steered it past Smits from six yards.
Colney netted their fourth goal when Danny Fitzgerald slipped the ball into the path of Spencer Clarke-Mardel who netted.
Jimmy Hill came on later in the match and was sent off for a rash challenge.
London Colney Colts Under-14s continued their winning streak with a 6-4 win at home to Borehamwood Youth Crusaders.
Leading goalscorer Dylan Rushton added to his tally for the season with a first-half hat-trick.
Jake Riseborough’s superb header along with Alessandro Fardella's strike and another effort from Dylan Rushton completed the scoring.
The Under-9s continued their form with a well deserved 2-1 victory away to Borehamwood Youth Crusaders.
Paddy Cassidy put Colney ahead with a great finish from the edge of the box before Borehamwood equalised just before half-time.
Cassidy scored a second for Colney midway through the second half and Jack Morris was deservedly named man-of-the-match.
London Colney Under-8s played well against Bushey & Oxhey Sharks with a brace from Johnny Fox alongside other efforts from Sebastian Ferdinand and Tommy Roberts.
