London Colney ended their year on a high with a 2-0 victory at Colney Heath on Saturday.

The Blueboys started the South Midlands Premier Division contest brightly and put the opposition under plenty of pressure in the opening stages.

Colney should have taken the lead through Tom Smith but his effort at the back post went just wide.

The visitors did open the scoring just before the break when Jimmy Hill latched on to a pass from Danny Fitzgerald before hitting a superb 35-yard strike into the net.

Hill came very close in the second half to netting a similar goal but this time his strike flew narrowly over.

At the other end, Charlie May produced a superb save to push over a shot from Tel Caswell.

London Colney’s Martin Standen, Dan Power, Hill and Martin Collins all went close with efforts following the restart.

Colney Heath did create one chance late on when Dave Parkinson found Aaron Clarke but Smith was quick to block the shot.

The second goal came with five minutes to go.

Collins played the ball to Spencer Clarke-Mardel and his effort was cleared.

However the ball fell to James Lawrence who returned the ball back into the box and Collins instantly squared it to Clarke-Mardell to seal the win from close range.
