St Albans City Youth Under-14 Girls Futsal squad clinched victory in a tournament with Garston Girls.

The yellow team finished in first place and their goalscorers were Julia Draper with 11, Dani Tyler with nine, Ciara Robinson and Charlotte Boyle.

In second place were the Blues and they had six goals from Emily Schofield, plus four from player of the tournament Shauna Smith, there was also one goal from Ellen Fox. This tournament was excellent preparation for the County Competition which begins later this month.

The Under-13 Girls had a tough game against Kinja Rockets which saw them lose 6-4. Lauren Standing, Kira Close, Molly Johnson and Charlotte Banks found the net for the Futsal side.

St Albans Under-12 Girls took on the Under-13s from Kinja Rockets and went down 4-1 with Lauren Walker scoring their only goal.

The Under-15 West boys battled to a 2-1 home win over Alexandra Park.

Jake Anthony gave them the lead before Harry Deacon struck the winning goal. Midfielder Paul Sibabda was named man-of-the-match.

In the County Cup, the Under-13s Orient lost 1-0 to Bury Rangers in a match played on astroturf.

Freddie Wilkinson was dominant at the back for the Orient while Luke Beckworth, Toby Bryon and Louie Collier all went close to scoring for them.

Harry Smith scored a consolation goal for the Under-13s North as they went down 5-1 to Omonia Green.

Keeper Nathan Glasscoe was named man-of-the-match following a fine display between the sticks which helped to keep the score down.

The Under-12s North lost 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Hemel Aces Tigers in the Senior League Cup semi-final.

Billy Owen netted and also had another effort disallowed in extra time. The other goal was scored from the penalty spot by Ryan Orde. In extra time the North had more bad luck as Joe Williams' cracking shot struck the crossbar.

Orde, Harvey Smith, Owen and Joe Curran scored from the penalty spot but City were narrowly beaten.

The Under-11s West crashed to a 6-0 defeat to Austin Arrowheads Panthers. Midfielder Josh Penning was named man-of-the-match.

The Under-11s Central eased to a 4-1 win over Hurst Drive Youth. Tom McVeigh, Dan Baylis, Luis Moreno and star player Matty Bleakley all found the net.

St Albans Under-10s South were beaten 2-1 by Abbots Youth Yellow. The side scored a consolation through Alex Lawlor while defender Nicholas Casey impressed despite the defeat.

The Under-8s North had an entertaining match with Ware Youth Blues as Alexis Awonuga, Bradley Smith, Joshua Addo and Naguib Mazari all scored.

The man-of-the-match went to Ashton Latter.

Meanwhile, St Albans City Youth’s Disability Team played their first ever FA Cup game against Colchester’s Healthy 4 Life.

The first half was a close encounter with St Albans nearly taking the lead on several occasions but it ended goalless.

Colchester took the lead after 53 minutes and it ended up in an 8-0 victory for their side.

The St Albans City Youth Boys six-a-side competition takes place on May 31 and June 1 for Under-7s to Under-12s.

The girls competition is on May 17 for Under-9s to Under-14s.

Meanwhile Harpenden Colts Lions Under-10s beat Cuffley Youth 5-3.

Goals were scored by Bobbie London, Reece Lambert and a hat-trick from Euan Turner.

The Under-10 Jaguars defeated Welwyn Pegasus Royals 8-2. Oscar Ryan (3), Oliver Connolly (3), Thomas Wightman and Joseph Seymour scored.

Harpenden Colts Lions Under-10s drew 1-1 against Risden Wood Colts after a goal from Joshua Humbles.

The Under-11 Eagles put in a decent performance but lost 2-0.
