London Colney Reserves’ unbeaten Division One league record came to an end after they were beaten 4-2 at home to Stotfold.

Dale Etherington nearly gave them the lead early on but his curling corner kick came back off the crossbar whilst Josh Galloway, after cutting in from the left wing, saw his well struck low drive hit the foot of the post and rebound out. Etherington followed up but saw his shot saved by the Stotfold keeper and after good work by Jack Nevin, Andy Brown blazed his shot over the bar.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead against the run of play but the Blueboys pulled a goal back when they were awarded a penalty which was given for handball. Galloway took the spot kick and drove the ball into the back of the net giving the Stotfold keeper no chance to make a save.

The joy was shortlived as Stotfold hit back to score a third a few minutes later to go in at half-time 3-1 up.

In the second half the Blueboys pulled a goal back when, after a good build-up down the left, recent signing Jack Nevin smashed the ball past the Stotfold keeper to make it 3-2.

Both teams then had a player sent off and in the final minutes of the match as the Blueboys pressed forward in search of an equaliser, Stotfold broke away to score a fourth goal to seal the win.

London Colney Blues defeated Bovingdon 4-1 in the Webster Cup with goals from Connor McGrath (2), Omar Echi-Challi and Samuel Ayo.

London Colney's first team were due to host Southall yesterday and will entertain Harefield tomorrow and Stotfold on Saturday.
