Beechwood Park came home with plenty of medals at the Schools' Swimming Association Regional finals.

With places at the national swimming championships in Sheffield up for grabs and against tough opposition from teams across Herts, Beds, Bucks, Essex, Suffolk and London, the relay teams from the Markyate school enjoyed success.

The swimmers won the Division 10 Boys Mixed Stroke Shield; the Herts Cup, for the best school team in Hertfordshire (Freestyle); and the Schools Cup, for the best school team in Hertfordshire (Mixed Stroke).

Beechwood Park director of sport Kylie-Paul Le Bas said: "The fact that the boys’ and girls’ relay teams made it through to the regional finals for both the medley and freestyle events was a huge achievement in itself.

"The girls’ team just missed out on qualifying for the nationals by the narrowest of margins, but the boys’ results winning the medley and coming a close second in the freestyle finals mean that they will head to Sheffield for the national finals on June 21."
