Tabard and Verulamians Under-12s triumphed in the Shield Competition at the Hertfordshire County Mini Rugby Festival at the weekend.

TV’s begun the pool stage of the competition with a 10-5 defeat to Harpenden B after conceding tries early in both halves, Alfie getting TV's consolation try.

Back-to-back 5-0 victories against Cheshunt B and Old Albanians B saw TV's progress to the semi-final stage, Sam E and Joel the try-scorers.

In the semi-final, a try from Aidan put TV's ahead, but Old Albanians soon equalised. TV’s then went back in front through Dylan before Albanians levelled once more. Neither side could find a winner in the second half and eventually TV's progressed following a coin toss in their favour.

Old Albanians C lay in wait in the final and took the lead before Jack L levelled. With the score tied at 5-5 at full-time, the silverware was shared.
