London Colney came from behind to clinch a 4-1 win at Stotfold in the South Midlands Premier Division on Saturday.

The hosts took the lead after just three minutes when Nyasha Sagewete chipped the ball over Charlie May who was well off his line.

The Blueboys nearly hit back when after a corner kick by Ben Hammond saw Greg Shaw head the ball only inches wide of Michael Johnson’s left-hand post.

Matt Newman was denied by the keeper but the visitors equaliser in the 26th minute when a free-kick found Sean Ridgway and he sent an effort into the corner of the net.

London Colney made it 2-1 before the break when Ridgway laid the ball off to Jimmy Hill and he fired a powerful strike into the roof of the net.

Stotfold had two good chances to draw level.

Sagwete tried to lob May but his effort went over and then Stevie Thomas burst clear into the Blueboys box but May managed to block his goalbound shot with his legs.

London Colney extended their lead in the second half when Ben Hammond’s corner was headed back by Cain Davey and Shaun Murphy headed the ball past Johnson.

Stotfold nearly pulled a goal back when Tremayne Charles struck a fierce shot which hit the far post while Shaw went close at the other end with a header which just missed the target.

The Blueboys rounded off the scoring at the end of the match when Jimmy Hartley played the ball to Newman and he beat the keeper from a tight angle.
