St Albans Bowls Club’s Pauline Gardiner lost to Hemel Hempstead's Norma Brown in the semi-final in the Champion of Champions competition.
Gardiner was also in the semi-final of the district Australian pairs competition with Tricia Gascoine. They drew the first set and then lost the second set as Potters Bar’s Beryl Burbridge and Anne Clarke won 3-1 on points.
St Albans ladies beat De Havilland 39-21 in the two rink triples. The top rink was Eileen Englebright, Carole Ewer and Jacy Farrer (22-8). The side defeated Potten End 60-32 with Sue Fogarty, Englebright and Joyce Wilson (23-14) the top rink.
The men played Harrow and lost the match 87-52. The top rink was Alan Turner, Bob Pomeroy and Tom Banfield (17-16).
St Albans member Diana Tribe was presented with an award, along with Bowls Development Alliance chairman Graham Marriner, at the National Championships in Leamington Spa.
The pair were recognised for the work they have carried out in Hertfordshire for Bowls England over the last four and a half years.
Tribe, who is a senior bowls tutor for the BDA, has coached more than 100 newcomers at St Albans.
