St Albans were relegated from Herts Division One after their eight-wicket defeat to Dunstable on Saturday.

The Saints’ defeat and Hitchin’s draw with Shenley Village was enough to send St Albans down to Division Two.

Asked to bat, Mark Telkman and Ian McKinlay began well, with 20 from the opening four overs. The rate slowed with the score doubling 13 overs later for the loss of Telkman. Andy Rudlin found the going tough and only occasional aggression by McKinlay made the scoreboard move.

The hosts lost five wickets for ten runs in eight overs, including McKinlay for 46. The tail hung around but 95 all out looked too few to trouble their opponents.

Dunstable had few problems chasing down the total as they claimed victory with 21 overs to spare to seal St Albans’ fate.
