Gardiner reached five singles finals and managed to pick up victories in the ladies championship, over-60s ladies, two wood singles and the Committee Cup.

Gardiner and Rod Perks were crowned club champions.

Eileen Englebright won the Novice Cup after four consecutive years of reaching the final.

Englebright defeated Clare Orchard, who was in her first year of playing competitions after joining the club in 2013.

Bob Pomeroy overcame Crawford Turner in the men’s competition.

In the ladies’ pairs, Orchard and Jill Morris fought back from 18-2 down to Sybil Steers and Englebright to claim a dramatic two-shot victory.

Andy Kay edged to victory over Gardiner in the best of the best competition, which is open to singles winners during the previous year.

The final match of the season was played on Sunday against the Owls with a 101-99 defeat. The top rink was Steers, Barbara Davis, Kay and Tom Banfield (28-14).

The club’s closing day is this Sunday when all the finalists will receive their trophies.
