Harpenden Town moved three points clear at the top of South Midlands Division One after a 3-1 victory at home to Bush Hill Rangers.

Harry Hunt came into the game in top form after grabbing another goal in the week but it was James Yates' deflected shot that gave the home side the lead in under half an hour.

Bush Hill Rangers equalised when Ali Mustafa headed home but the hosts regained the lead when Nick Elliot's cross was nodded in by captain Jack Cartwright.

Harpenden clinched the points in the 80th minute when Tom Collin arrowed a headed into the net.

This brings up a top of the table clash with second-placed Baldock Town at Rothamsted Park this Saturday.

Harpenden manager Daniel Plumb said:"The players have worked really hard this season and deserve their success.

"I think Bush Hill Rangers were one of the best teams we have played so I was pleased to get three points on Saturday. It was an entertaining game and a great result."
