Harpenden Swimming Club held their inaugural swimming gala at The Venue in Borehamwood earlier this month.
There were 336 swimmers competing in over 30 events with clubs such as City of St Albans taking part in the competition.
The gala was themed ‘The Legacy Meet’ to build on the success of the 2012 London Olympics. There were several items around poolside that came directly from London 2012 such as the blue pace clocks used during the warm-up at the Aquatic Centre.
The Town Mayor of Harpenden, Councillor Mary Maynard and The Town Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood, Councillor Pat Strack officially opened the Gala.
Bryan Thompson, Legacy Meet Promoter, said: "Thank you to all the swimmers, coaches, officials and volunteers who helped make our first ever gala, The Harpenden Legacy Meet, a tremendous success. The swimming was of a particularly high standard.
"We saw lots of great races, personal bests and county qualifying times. We also received some fabulous feedback from officials, participating clubs and parents.
"The certificates and medals were appreciated by all the winners. We hope the gala builds on the Olympic theme to Inspire a Generation and the children continue swimming and that they come back to compete again next year."
