St Albans City's James Gray and Graham Golds won the Conference South managers of the month award for April.

The Saints’ joint bosses guided the club to four consecutive wins over Eastbourne Borough, Gosport Borough, Ebbsfleet United and Hayes & Yeading United. Their run helped St Albans finish 13th in the table following their first season after promotion.

Gray told the club website: “Graham and I are really pleased to receive the Vanarama Conference South Manager of the Month award but it’s been a real team effort here.

“The staff have been brilliant but most of the credit must go to the group of players we have assembled. We fought right to the end when there was nothing really to play for and that is a good sign of things to come.”

The recently formed St Albans City Supporters Group ‘Stand By Your Saints’ is hosting a launch event on Saturday, May 30.

This will take place in the clubhouse at Clarence Park from 3pm. There will be food and drink on offer along with giveaways, music and a raffle/auction.

Entry is via a donation of £5 on the door, all of which will be used to upgrade the facilities at the ground.

The Saints have paid tribute to former director Bernard Grimson after he passed away at the age of 82.

Grimson served as honorary secretary from the 1978-79 season through to 1982. After standing down as secretary he continued to play a very active part in the running of the club as a member of the working committee. He continued to attend City matches through to the end of this season.

A club statement said: “We send our condolences to Bernard’s wife Daphne and his family at this sad time.”

St Albans have announced special discounted earlybird season ticket prices providing they are ordered and paid for by Monday, June 1. The early rate will be £200 for adults and £135 for concessions.

Members of the Saints Snowball will receive a £10 discount off the early bird and standard adult and concession season ticket prices.

After the early bird date, season tickets will cost £252 for adults. Concessions will be charged £168 and it will cost £50 for juniors.
