St Albans Bowls Club's Pauline Gardiner advanced in the ladies county Champion of Champions competition after defeating Welwyn & District's Pauline Ellis 21-16. 

Elsewhere, Steve Wilson traveled to Woburn Sands for the first round of the London and southern counties gold Badge competition. He was narrlowly beaten 21-20. 

Ken Budd was beaten in the second round of the county officers singles while Dave Church defeated Kevin Hull in the St Albans & District singles competition.

 

Tricia Gasgoyne and Gardiner recorded a convincing win in the ladies county pairs competition and the club's men overcame Hatfield Bowls Club in their district league match 83-66. 

The highest winning rink for St Albans were Mike Jefferies, Johnny Cooper, Bert Sumner and captain Tony Morris.

Dave Church suffered defeat to Ron Golden in the second round of the district singles while in the first round of the ladies county triples, the St Albans team led by Jill Morris was beaten by Hatfield. 

Andy Kay beat Luton Town's Jonathan Stokes 21-12 in the London and southern counties lonsdale Trophy while a St Albans side took on Harpenden in the first round of the County 10 competition. 

Gardnier was beaten 21-21 against Leslie Tutt, Eileen Englebright and Jacy Farrer lost 19-18 to Linda Newby and Dena Roberts in the pairs while Silvia Cooper Betty Lawrence and Jill Morris suffered a 14-13 defeat in the triples. 

On Sunday, St Albans welcomed five mixed rink triples from Hemel Hempstead and claimed a convincing victory by 88 shots to 67.
