St Albans Bowls Club lost 107-65 in their five rink friendly triples match at Welwyn Garden City on Sunday.

The side only won one rink with a score of 24 shots to nine consisting of skip Peter Kay skip, Eileen Englebright and Sally Griffiths.

St Albans won 60-54 in their three rink friendly match against Cheshunt on Saturday. It was reduced from five rinks to three due to the visitors unable to obtain enough players.

The top winning rink consisted of ladies captain Carol Ewer, her husband Trevor, men's vice captain Bob Pomeroy and skip Peter Kay (27-12).

St Albans sent a team of ten men to play Garston on Friday in the County Top Ten competition.

Despite a decent effort, they lost on all rinks with Steve Wilson beaten 21-19 on the last end. The triples lost 15-11 after 18 ends. The pairs were totally outclassed by a pair who are regular county players losing by nine shots to 33 after 21 ends. The fours, realising that the team could not win, finally conceded trailing by 18 shots to 11.

St Albans clinched a 73-63 win at Berkhamsted on Wednesday in their four rink mixed match.

The top rink for St Albans featured Trevor Ewer, Sibyil Steers, Maureen Grimward, Alan Turner and Jacy Farrer with a score of 31 shots to 11.

Alan Brittian and Ken Budd played a mens pair from Rowley Lane in the St Albans & District men's pairs competition and earned a comfortable win with the opposition conceding on the 20th end (23-14).

Clare Orchard, Eileen Englebright and Jill Morris were beaten 26-19 in their second round of the Herts County competition by Rowley Lane.
