Townsend completed the double over Harpenden with wins in the EBA two fours and the inter-club championship.

Hosts Townsend won the fours match comfortably 48-10 and by two rinks to nil. The foursome of Andy Bates, Carl Robinson, Gary West and Danny Macro won by 22-3, coincidentally attaining the same shot difference as the top rink, skipped by Andy Briden, which featured Peter Thomson, Peter Armstrong and Dave Houghton (26-7).

The second encounter came in the inter-club team championship, a county match up of three rinks per team where the overall score determined the winners. Townsend again won on all rinks for a 56-31 victory.

The top rink of Bates, David Day, Houghton and West won against very strong opposition 22-9, a feat almost emulated by the second highest scoring rink, of Bob Lawrie, Roger Potter, Alan Charran and Peter Armstrong (20-10).

The final rink of Robbie Ransted, Carl Robinson, Peter Thomson and Danny Macro had an equally impressive result, winning 14-12 against the extremely strong captain`s rink of their opponents.

In the Watford and District Griffin Cup, Townsend played host to two rinks of bowlers from Bushey, and despite the rink score of 1-1, managed to win by five shots overall.

The winning rink comprised Alan Quested, Bob Lawrie, David Day and skip Roger Potter, and won 23-15.

The other rink of Mike Doherty, Mike Cowell, Bob Padget and Gordon Williamson staging a spirited comeback to narrow their deficit to only three shots.
