St Albans Bowls Club battled to an 82-70 win over Hitchin in their four rink mixed match.

The side came out on top in three of the four rinks. The pick of the St Albans team featured Alan Turner, Alison Thomas, Trevor Ever and Eileen Cox.

St Albans were beaten 92-56 by Harperbury in their four rink mixed friendly.

Despite leading on three of the four rinks, the St Albans bowlers seemed to lose concentration after a break for tea and finally lost on all of them.

St Albans played a friendly mixed bowls match away against Harpenden and won on two rinks but also lost on two as they were edged out 77-67.

The top rink for St Albans included Pauline Gardner, George Davison, Bert Sumner and skip Kevin Hull with an advantage of 16-13.

St Albans ladies played a friendly two rink match at Hertford Castle and finished up with a combined draw on shots and rinks.

The rink skipped by Jill Morris with Linda Burfield, Barbara Davis and Eileen Englebright prevailed 21-13. The other rink lost 22-14.
