St Albans' Sunday team lost by nine wickets to Brondesbury Eagles in Chess Valley Division Two.

The Saints won the toss but their decision to bat first backfired as they were dismissed for just 83 in 31.5 overs.

The openers failed to make any impression and it was left to Zach West to top score on 40. Ryan O'Neill chipped in with 23 but this could not prevent a meagre total from the side.

The Eagles cruised to the victory for the loss of one wicket in just 10.4 overs. O’Neill finished with one for 27 but it was a game to forget for the Saints.

St Albans were also denied competitive action after their Division Two A game against Preston on Saturday was called off due to the rain. The side, who are bottom of the table, are due to play their next match this Saturday when they face Watford Town.

The Seconds were also prevented from playing in Division Four B after their game against Langleybury Seconds was hit by the weather.

St Albans Thirds were frustrated as their game against Waltham X Rosedale Seconds was cancelled in Division Eight A. The Fourths’ clash with Rickmansworth Fourths was another casualty.
