St Albans crashed to an eight-wicket defeat to Old Owens in Division Two A.

Choosing to bat, Sam Kindlen found Brad Lane to be too quick and McKinlay was run out to Javed Mir, who had an inspired match. Sandipan Chanda and Henry Tyler scored quickly as Owens changed bowlers with great frequency.

Chanda became the first of five leg before wicket decisions after a rapid 20 from 14 balls. Tyler and Matthew Howeson batted steadily taking the score to 102 before a loosener from Ralph Lane was hit straight to mid-off.

Goodfellow added 11 before Howeson reached his second fifty in a row. At 159 for five with 14 overs left Mohammed Ahmed accounted for both Howeson and Max Capaldi before the innings folded for 175 and Owens were donated eight extra overs and a target of 176.

Tyler's first ball removed Lane to a smart catch by Howeson. Dawson-Goodey decided to take on the attack.

His 42-ball fifty started to take the game away from St Albans and after Jacob Winfield took a maiden wicket, at the age of 15, Mir scored a quick half century to finish with 56 not out in an innings containing only boundaries. The hosts won with 28 overs to spare and only 2 wickets down.
