St Albans slumped to a disappointing 14-run defeat to Northwood in Herts Division Two A on Saturday.

Northwood batted first and found it tough going as they were dismissed for just 114 in 49 overs. The win looked there for the taking for St Albans but they missed a decent opportunity as they were all out for just 100 in 43.2 overs.

It was the side's second successive defeat in the league and they will look to get back on track next weekend against rivals Leverstock Green.

St Albans Seconds battled to a 30-run win over Hertingfordbury in their high scoring Division Four B match.

The usual debate about batting or bowling first was settled when skipper Uttam Vijender won the toss and decided to bat.

Aaron Jones compiled a well paced and fluent 121 with some crunching shots, over pretty much the full 50 overs. He never looked in trouble and was well supported by Ruan Erasmus, Ian McKinlay and Chris Hodges.

After 50 overs the skipper declared with Saints having put on 268 for eight.

St Albans' bowling was generally a bit short and Hertingfordbury kept up a good run rate but the difference was they lost wickets regularly.

Joe Clouting bowled beautifully in two spells of controlled left arm seam bowling and probably deserved more than his four-for.

Uttam Vijender made amends for his batting four for 40 with his swingers.

Hertingfordbury kept going until the last and were finally bowled out for 238 after 44.4 overs as the Saints made it back-to-back wins.

St Albans Thirds picked up a five-wicket victory over Potters Bar Thirds in Division Eight A.

St Albans Fourths earned a 24-run win over Frogmore Seconds in Regional Division B West.

The Saints could only muster 100 all out from 32 overs but Frogmore struggled even more as they were all out for 76.
