London Colney completed their preparation for the new season with a convincing 6-0 win at Cranfield United on Saturday.

London Colney begin their South Midlands Premier Division campaign this Saturday with a home game against Stotfold.

The Blueboys also faced a trip to Colney Heath yesterday (Tuesday) in the first round of the Herts Charity Shield.

The club have added to the their squad by signing Hatfield Town defender Jack Robertson.

With the Blueboys being the fitter side at Cranfield they quickly created many chances with player-of-the-match Jack Woods proving to be a constant threat down the right wing. The first goal came from a free kick which Woods curled in to the far post and Jimmy Hill nodded the ball home from close range.

The visitors extended their lead when Greg Shaw released Hill and he raced onto the ball to fire crisply into the bottom corner of the net.

The Blueboys made it 3-0 when following a Woods corner kick, Tom Smith drove home a fine effort. London Colney quickly added a fourth goal just before the break through Danny Fitzgerald's fierce strike from outside the area.

Despite plenty of changes in the second half, the Blueboys rounded off the scoring with goals from Archie McClelland and Spencer Clarke-Mardel.

The Blueboys earned a 2-1 friendly win at Wingate & Finchley on Thursday after goals from Hill and Niall Lysaght.

London Colney were also held to a 2-2 draw at home to Romford last week as they continued their build-up to the new campaign.

Joe Bricknell headed the visitors into an early lead but it did not take long for London Colney to equalise. Rhys Lawrence scored a superb strike as he caught the goalkeeper off his line and blasted a 30-yard strike in off the crossbar.

Romford regained the lead when Shoman Barnwell scored with a header at the back post.

In the second period Clarke-Mardel was denied twice by the keeper in the opening minutes of the second half.

Cain Davey then saw his well struck effort spilled by the keeper but the ball was quickly cleared before anyone could pounce on the loose ball.

London Colney drew level when Clarke-Mardel was brought down in the penalty area and Matt Standen fired home the spot-kick.
