London Colney cruised to a 4-0 win at Enfield 1893 FC in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Blueboys, who came into the match off an emphatic midweek win over Welwyn Garden City, needed just two minutes to take the lead in the cup tie when Lee Armitt netted after his first effort was blocked.

The visitors were awarded a penalty when Armitt was brought down in the area by Joel Davies but the striker fired his effort past the post.

London Colney added the second goal when Rhys Lawrence’s corner was headed in by Tommy Smith.

It was almost 3-0 but Smith’s strike was pushed round the post by Dilon Wicker.

But the next goal came ten minutes before half time when Armitt’s header was parried by Wicker and Matt Standen nodded the ball in.

Striker Armitt was only denied another goal when his shot on the turn struck the foot of the post.

Enfield were awarded a penalty after a push by Lee Close but Lewis Watson’s effort struck the crossbar.

With just two minutes remaining, Armitt set up Close and he fired home.

The Blueboys have been drawn at home to Potters Bar in the next round on Saturday, August 29.
