St Albans Hockey Club ladies Vets have progressed to the third round of the national cup competition with a crushing 5-0 victory against Chelmsford.

Last year’s semi-finalists put on a dominant display and goals from Sarah Embrey (3), Miche Bloch and Anne-Marie Davenport sealed the win.

In the weekend’s league games, the ladies firsts drew 2-2 with Hampstead and Westminster after goals from Ellie Watton and Emma O’Nein.

The seconds came back from 1-0 down to beat Harleston Magpies 2-1 after Lou Akers and Fiona Nekeman scored for the Tangerines.

In the men’s section, the firsts drew 3-3 with City of Peterborough on Saturday (goals from James Champion, Alex Spencer and Matt Davey) and won 2-1 against Cambridge University on Sunday (goals from Dave Williams and Mark Iowden).

These results sent them three points clear at the top of the East of England Premier League.

The men's thirds beat Tulse Hill 1-0, the men's fifths drew 2-2 with Stevenage and the men’s sevenths also came away with a good result beating Cheshunt 3-0.
