Harpenden put an error-strewn first 40 minutes firmly behind them to secure a bonus-point 36-23 win at Tabard on Saturday.
The victory – their first in four games – saw them rise two places in London Two North West to fifth and now sit just two points behind league leaders Fullerians.
Harps got off to a dismal start when a missed tackle resulted in Tabard centre Leon Leonidas touching down under the posts.
On 15 minutes they went further behind when stand-off Jack Reilly, who had earlier converted their try, slotted home a penalty.
Tom Sweeney reduced the arrears with a penalty, but Tabard’s Aaron Prescott crashed over to make it 17-3. Ash Smith replied for Harp to give them hope going into the second half.
Skipper Michael Goode stormed over for a try after the restart and winger Ollie Brown touched down for Harps’ third try.
Smith scored his second try ten minutes from time and the visitors sealed victory when centre Nick Childs crossed the line.
