St Albans Hockey club celebrated three promotions and an Under-18 tournament win for the junior girls at the weekend.

The men’s Seconds scored two goals in the dying minutes of their game to beat Richmond Seconds 3-2 which secured promotion into the London Premier League.

The Thirds will move into London Division Three after winning 13 of their 16 games this season including a 3-0 win against Richmond Fourths on Saturday.

The men’s Fourths drew 1-1 with Southgate Adelaide and became the third team to be promoted at the club this season.

St Albans men’s first team finished third in the East of England Premier League after winning 4-1 against Chelmsford while the Fifths drew 4-4 with Potters Bar.

In the ladies section, the Firsts drew 3-3 with Hampstead and Westminster after goals from Emma O’Nien (2) and GB’s Ellie Watton.

Two goals from Lexi Hamilton helped the ladies Seconds to a 2-1 victory against Norwich Dragons and the Thirds won 3-1 against Basildon after Liz Cleverly, Vanezza Zabert and Georgina Impson-Davey all scored for the Tangerines.

The girls Under-18s were crowned champions on Sunday after beating Queenswood School B Team 1-0, drawing 1-1 with Dame Alice Owen’s School and thrashing Queenswood School A Team 12-0 at the inaugural St Albans Hockey Club Schools Invitational tournament.
