LONDON COLNEY endured a week of mixed results with a disappointing home defeat to Southall following an emphatic 5-0 triumph over Aylesbury United.

The Blueboys had romped to victory in their second friendly of the season on Thursday night thanks to Archie McClelland's quick-fire double, with goals from Jon Clements, Russell Gallagher and Ashley Morrisey putting the gloss on a superb performance.

But on Saturday they were downed by Southall in a game where a late missed spot kick would deny them the chance of a draw.

McClelland grabbed his first goal in their tie with Aylesbury after good work from Jack Woods on the right wing, and turned home his low cross with aplomb for the opener.

Soon he grabbed a second from a Spencer Clarke-Mardel pull-back, before Tobias Irish headed a Cain Davey corner wide.

Clements got on the scoresheet following a pinpoint through ball from Gallagher, and soon provider turned scorer when he finished off a superb solo run to add a fourth.

Colney were not done, however, and Morrisey drilled home from just inside the box before Shaun Murphy's attempts to make it six were thwarted on the line.

It was a different story when Southall arrived at Cotlandswick on Saturday, with Shabir Gulmohammed drilling the visitors in front following a quick free-kick.

Despite a glorious chance to level the scores when Morrisey was brought down in the box, but Clarke-Mardel's spot kick was fired straight at Michael Power-Simpson, who saved.
