St Albans Bowling Club’s Tricia Gascoine won the first round of the Ladies District singles, beating Oak Hill’s Sheila Bowler 21-17.
The midweek men played a five-rink triples match away to near neighbours Townsend BC but finished up losing on all rinks 104-69.
St Albans ladies overcame Garston in a two-rink triples match away by 49 shots to 24. The winning rink was Pauline Gardiner, Sally Griffiths and Jacy Farrer.
The trio of Joyce Wilson, John Bartlett and Steve Wilson took part in the St Albans & District Bowls Association Annual Gala at Harperbury and won all of their four games, picking up 64 points to win the event and the Strofton Cup for 2016.
St Albans men took on Welwyn Garden City in the Bob Vise Trophy, winning two of the four rinks but losing on points difference (87-63).
Gardiner and Gascoine played Brenda Collins and Joan Hair away at Welwyn Garden City in the first round of the Ladies District Pairs and got off to a very good start leading 13-0 after five ends, before eventually winning 21-13.
St Albans played Shire Park in a four-rink mixed friendly but lost 96-82.
Top rink for St Albans was Max Schroeder, Paddy Boyle, Griffiths, and skip Andy Kay (25-14).
The other weekend match at Kings Langley was cancelled by the hosts.
Alan Turner and Dave Church lost to Harpenden’s pair of Kevin Brazier and David Brooks 20-7 in the third round of the District Pairs.
