There was double delight for both St Albans and Harpenden, who both continued their marches towards promotion with weekend wins.

St Albans' 95-run victory over Welwyn Garden City Seconds took them 31 points clear at the top of Division Two B, with 96 required to guarantee the league title.

They were indebted to Mbekezeli Mabuza's century in an otherwise unremarkable batting performance, where they had sat 31-3, before he, along with Matt Howeseon (31) and Max Capaldi (34), got the scoreboard ticking over.

The S aints ended 234-8 from 53 overs, a total which could go either way; but with Welwyn struggling to barely two an over in their opening 12 overs, the run chase began to look beyond the visitors.

Shayne Emerton batted well to reach 30 before he was caught by Adam Hownslow, but following his dismissal, the Saints romped to victory with their visitors bowled out for 139.

Harpenden enjoyed a nine-wicket victory over Sawbridgeworth, with Nick Lamb's 5-33 slicing through their rival's mid-order to drastically reduce the target they would successfuly charge down.

After a steady opening Sawbridgeworth partnership of 45, they were soon reduced to 93-5, with George Garrett (2-24) taking a pair of early wickets, and Lamb beginning his onslaught.

Bradley Finch chipped in with three more dismissals to finish off the visitors, who ended 129 all out.

It took Harpenden just 20 overs to reach their target, with opener Gregg Cooper's unbeaten 68, including 13 fours, the crux of their innings.

He and Lamb made 67 before the latter was dismissed for 16, but they would not look back.

Replacement at the crease Ben Clements wasted no time in forming a partnership with 34 from 32 balls as they cemented their place at the top of Division Two A, which they now lead by 56 points.
