St Albans Hockey Club have brought in Amie Hone as a development member and junior academy coach.

Hone will train with and play for the ladies first team and coach youth academy sessions on Tuesdays between 6-7.30pm for junior girls and Thursdays afternoons for junior boys.

She will also act as a pool coach on Saturdays for senior teams throughout the club.

Hone played Premier League hockey for four years, for Olton and West Warwicks HC and then Buckingham HC. She has been a member of the Great Britain development squad since 2014 and has played internationals against Wales, Ireland and India. She hopes to gain a place on the senior programme at Bisham Abbey towards Tokyo 2020.

Head Coach Hannah Macleod said: “I had the opportunity to train alongside Amie when she was invited to join the Great Britain training squad and she was a standout individual for me.

"Not only did she have the skillsets necessary for top level hockey, her work ethic and positive attitude was clear to see. I have no doubt Amie will be a fantastic personality within the team and club and a great role model for all aspiring players - young and old.”

The move reunites her with former Buckingham team-mate Chloe Hobson, who re-joined St Albans HC a year ago.
