ST ALBANS CITY FC have signed Michael Junior Harvey, the So Solid Crew rapper, on a one-year contract.

Harvey, who has had spells at AFC Wimbledon and Lewes, put pen to paper along with Dagenham & Redbridge's Paul Bruce on Tuesday on a deal that will see him play under Ritchie Hanlon in the Conference South next season.

Harvey, who lives in Welwyn, is no stranger to controversy. In August 2005, he was found guilty at St Albans Magistrates Court of assaulting a police officer while the rapper hit the headlines last year when The Sun newspaper stated Harvey, who is married to Mis-Teeq singer Alesha Dixon, had begun an alleged affair with Javine Hylton, a friend of Alesha.

"There is lot that goes with Harvey," admitted Hanlon on the 28-year-old. "But I think we can get the best out of him. He's got pace, can play in a few positions and most importantly, he wanted to come to us."

The arrival of the colourful Harvey has also helped land the club a potentially money spinning match against a Celebrity XI - who could field a host of ex players and stars from Sky One's annual series, The Match - on Sunday, July 22.
