Former St Albans City goalkeeper Paul Bastock is set to make footballing history by equalling the record for appearances in the English game.
The stopper currently has 1,248 outings under his belt and should move ahead of the England legend Peter Shilton when his Wisbech Town face Thetford Town in the FA Vase on Saturday.
Before then, Bastock should move level with Shilton when he takes to the field against Sleaford Town on Wednesday.
Bastock, 47, enjoyed two separate spells with the Saints in a career which started with Coventry City way back in 1986.
