St Albans Cricket Club made light work of a meeting with Bishops Stortford Seconds with a commanding nine-wicket win on Saturday.

The Saints followed the formula which had served them so well in their previous outing as they won the toss and elected to field.

Their decision was rewarded with a stream of regular breakthroughs and they took just 30.3 overs to rattle through the Stortford order.

None of the Stortford number made it beyond 30, such was the St Albans dominance and the visitors were eventually bowled out for a meagre 101.

Dan Foster was undoubtedly the star man with the ball for St Albans as he claimed a five-for to finish the day with figures of 5-22.

Jamie Regan also made a telling impact with ball in hand, closing the day with 2-14, while Max Capaldi chipped in with 2-16 and Simon White took 1-30.

The St Albans response made light work of the chase as they got over the line inside 17 overs to record the most routine of wins.

Adam Hounslow led the way as the St Albans opener scored an unbeaten 44 to take his side to victory.

His efforts, along with those of fellow opener Jacob Winfield (40) before White scored seven not out to finish the job.

Benji Furer was the only man to have any joy with the ball for Stortford as picked up 1-8 from his two overs.

The victory is St Albans’ second of the season and leaves them second in the Hertfordshire Cricket League Division Two A table.

They will look to make it three wins on the spin when they take on Holtwhites Trinibis in their next game on Saturday.

Holtwhites currently sit fourth in the table and defeat would see St Albans leapfrogged by their hosts.

Victory, meanwhile, would cement the Clarence Park club’s side in the top two as they look to chase down Hitchin.
