Gosling star reaches last eight of Australian Open

Gosling teenager Timea Babos has reached the quarter-finals of the Junior Australian Open.

The 16-year-old number one seed beat Australian Ashling Sumner 6-1, 7-6 in the first round at Melbourne Park and defeated Sandra Zaniewska from Poland in the next round 6-4, 6-7, 6-1.

Hungarian Babos warmed up for the tournament by winning the Loy Yang Traralgon International and reached the semi-final of the Wimbledon junior championships last year.

Babos, who trains at the International High Performance Tennis Centre at Gosling Sports Park, is also through to the semi-finals of the doubles event with her Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski.
