Harpenden booked their place in the Herts County Cup semi-finals for the second year in a row after a three-wicket win over Sawbridgeworth on Sunday.

An inexperienced Harpenden side, missing Ben Frazer and Nick Lamb, were in trouble after Sawbo put on 208 for their second wicket. Tight bowling by Jon Ryan and Jake Pankhurst pegged things back with Chris Arnold taking three for 41 to restrict Sawbridgeworth to 284 for four.

But Harpenden secured a last-four tie against Bishop's Stortford next month thanks to a welcome return to form from Gregg Cooper (87). Wicketkeeper Chris Bennett-Baggs (56) and Rob Fahrenheim (40) kept the momentum going even as wickets started to fall. Teenager Ben Cawood (12 not out) stayed there at the end to see his team home to a high scoring victory.

Harpenden remain bottom of the Home Counties Premier Division One after a seven-wicket defeat to Tring Park. Half-centuries from David Keenleyside (68 in 108 balls) and Aussie Ben Clements (66 in 99 balls) took Harpenden to a strong position at 131 for one but opposition skipper Keith Dutch, with five wickets, had too much for the middle order and they were bowled out for 181.

Tring were not troubled after this as they won for the loss of just three wickets. Harpenden desperately need a result this weekend when they host rivals Welwyn Garden City.

Harpenden Seconds secured a five-wicket win over Dunstable in Herts Division Two. Chris Arnold (three for 39), Mike Howard (two for 12) and Richard Darwin (three for 32) all bowled well as Dunstable were bowled out for 134 in 42 overs. Aussie Sam Wiese (50 in 71 balls) notched another half-century to guide the hosts to an easy victory.

In Division Three, Harpenden Thirds lost to Kings Langley by 134 runs. Seamer John Kerley was in fine form taking six for 97 but a ton from Paul Ashford guided Langley to 256 for nine. A batting collapse to 43 for five mean that there was no way back for Harpenden in their meagre total of 122.

Harpenden Fourths drew with Hexton in Division Seven after the opposition survived on 189 for nine.

The Fifths cruised to an eight-wicket win over Met Police Bushey Thirds in Division 12.

Harpenden Sixths had to settle for a draw against Knebworth Park Sixths in Division 14.
